Shannon McGarvey is an investigative journalist, producer, and founder of Moonpie Media, a boutique podcast production company based in Austin, Texas. She collaborates with global brands and independent creators to craft human-centered, mission-driven audio-first stories that spark curiosity, foster connection, and drive meaningful impact.
Through Moonpie Media, Shannon has led the development and production of several acclaimed narrative podcasts, including three seasons of 'Edge of Reason' (2023–2025), an award-winning series created in partnership with The Atlantic and Hauser & Wirth Contemporary Art Gallery. She co-wrote and produced 'Sweets Unwrapped' (2025), a branded collaboration with Ferrero and The Atlantic exploring the culture, science, and craft behind iconic confections. She also serves as writer and executive producer of 'The Good-Bye' (2025), a series about the transformative power of grief.
Shannon previously wrote and produced the long-running series 'LISK: Long Island Serial Killer' (Mopac Audio, 2020–2024) and wrote, produced, and hosted 'Yuba County Five' (Mopac Audio, 2022), a deeply reported investigation into a decades-old mystery. She has also contributed to 'Anatomy of Murder,' bringing her narrative sensibility to one of true crime’s most popular shows.
In 2025, Shannon consulted on and appeared prominently in 'Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets,' a limited Peacock television docuseries examining the Long Island serial killer case.
Her work has been featured on 'Stuff You Should Know,' WABC New York, and Pix11 News NYC, and covered by The New York Times, The New Yorker, Cosmopolitan, British GQ, Vogue, HuffPost, Men’s Health, and others.
She holds an MLitt in Creative Writing from the University of Glasgow and a BA in English (Creative Writing) from Texas State University.
